About San Simeon Pines Seaside Resort In 1958 Llewellyn "Lew" Bonser and Robert Dayton purchased the original five acres of what is now San Simeon Pines Seaside Resort. Lew and his family camped several times on the gorgeous Big Sur Coast; inspiring a dream of creating a one of a kind family retreat in an area that was largely undeveloped at that time. San Simeon Pines has been Family Owned and Operated by the Bonsers from the very beginning. ![]() All of San Simeon Pines structures were designed and built by Lew. He was an accomplished designer/builder and a well respected general contractor in Southern California. When he wasn't creating custom homes or offices, he was busy updating San Simeon Pines including the logos. For over 50 years San Simeon Pines has been host to thousands of guests who have made SSP their favorite family resort and romantic central coast destination. Because of its unique location at the end of Moonstone Beach Drive, private beach access, the focus on family fun as well as the business travelers needs; Lew's dream has been more than realized.
